REWARD OR FREEDOM?

REWARD OR FREEDOM?
————————-
The more codependent patterns someone has, the more they do not want to be made aware of their codependent patterns because they are afraid of punishing themselves.
Codependency depends on a paradigm of rewards and punishments.
Everything falls into one of these two categories from the perspective of a codependent fixation.
Our society as a whole is largely geared toward this. Prison and death are viewed as the ultimate punishments. Love and approval and pleasure are viewed as the ultimate rewards.
If you take away this codependent viewpoint, the reality is very different from what is presented to us.
This viewpoint is behind the suffering.
Oftentimes, when people are presented with “Would you rather have a reward or no more codependency?”
9 times out of 10 they’ll choose the reward. Maybe 99 times out of 100.
It takes massive discipline and courage to step away from a perceived reward for a long-term beneficial shift in perspective.
This is what is meant by our addiction to comfort – addiction to reward.
Nothing is wrong with having something nice and comfortable.
I am not suggesting an ascetic lifestyle of deprivation.
This issue is, psychosomatically, when it NEEDS to be comfortable or you fall apart.
Consciousness needs to be unlocked through proper training and integrated into the cells of the body.
It’s not going to happen by sitting back and “trusting”.
A courageous step into the arena makes all the difference.
