THE BENEFITS OF STUPIDITY

THE BENEFITS OF STUPIDITY

??????????

At the beginning of my spiritual journey, I was focused on learning.

Learning it ALL and knowing it ALL.

This all came in very handy, of course, when I wanted to impress people with facts and stats I’d memorized.

And yet, it still left me in a state of confusion and suffering. I looked at a pile of books and thought to myself how amazing I would one day become if I could read and memorize them one by one.

Mental intelligence is very interesting, of course, because if we can visualize models of how things work – we can more easily mimic the energetics of those models.

However, once we know those models and especially when we begin to embody those models…memorization becomes a waste of energy.

The truest form of embodied knowledge does not depend on memory, other than the mechanics of communicating in language.

In fact, our relationships to memory can be so deceiving that they can cause us to believe that we are embodying something which we simply intellectualize very well.

Because of this fear-based phenomenon, I’ve discovered over the last couple of years that the most reasonable solution to many of the world’s issues is to become stupider.

And I say this in a half-joking way, because of course I’m not talking about stupidity as the opposite of wisdom….but rather stupidity as the opposite of logic.

Specifically, when it comes to emotions, many people have a deep misunderstanding between thoughts and emotions causing them to ‘think’ emotions and believe that’s what they’re feeling.

Our logic has mastered us, we have become slaves to it.

If we know too much, there’s the commonly known issue of ‘analysis paralysis’, an inability to move forward due to an overwhelming amount of logic pulling in different directions.

The obsession we can witness daily in people

needing to know EVERYTHING that’s happening in current affairs…to keep track of every last detail ‘to be an informed citizen’.

All of this greatly compromises our emotional health and thus detracts from the ability to effectively deal with those very issues.

Isn’t that interesting…by knowing about problems it can often detract from our ability to solve them.

To make this perfectly clear: We can solve issues we never knew existed – I experience this in almost every session I provide.

Only in mastery (purification) of our emotional response system can we actually contain the amount of energy necessary to develop truly intuitive and creative solutions.

As I have been growing stupider in many ways this dwindling of wasteful energy has allowed me to drop addictions, to drop the reliance on cultural expectations, and to drop the seemingly ‘logical’ need to be approved of.

It takes a lot of stupidity to be this courageous, I’m telling you!

One area where I especially notice this is when reading… I tend to read as if I know absolutely nothing and this makes space for truly seeing the letters and the paragraphs and fully digesting one page at a time.

Allowing for stupidity in some areas also liberates space for genius in other areas. This is a well-known benefit of unlearning.

Genius is not dictated by how much we know, but rather by how much power knows us.

Making ourselves available to power requires us to let down our guard, our skepticism, our evaluation, and to trust like never before.

Not knowing what I’m going to say before I say it, not knowing what I’m going to write before I write it, these abilities to let go and let flow absolute depend on knowing that I don’t know.
