Co-Dependency is a psychological term that includes a wide variety of unhealthy behaviors.
However, because behaviorism is not the most accurate perspective, there are deeper truths in regards to the nature of co-dependency.
Most people are dependent on certain emotions which they have become accustomed to. If they are not feeling these emotions, they are not feeling like “themselves”, because of a distorted self-image.
Co-Dependency always includes a lack of healthy boundaries, which comes from beliefs in their own unworthiness.
Because all beliefs are simply thought loops, these thoughts are also dependencies holding up the inaccurate self-image.
There is a 12 step program for co-dependents (CODA) and many books have been written on the subject.
Every person who experiences co-dependent tendencies is capable of healing and transcending this paradigm with proper assistance.
