SEE MY POWER

SEE MY POWER
…an exploratory poem….

I want to be known for my power
Even though everybody has power
This power is MINE

I Secretly feel like I don’t have enough of it
So while I’m off trying to get more
Please recognize me for what I do have

I’ll make it easier on you, I’ll flaunt it
I’ll show you my power in the name of “being authentic”
I’ll put myself on display like an exhibitionist
So all may praise and glorify me

See my power, it’s here to distract you from yours
See my power, and then you’ll realize how much you need me

See my stamina
See my wealth
See my genius
See my connections
See my influence

And then you’ll be drooling over me like a dog for a bone

I won’t take “later” for an answer,
Because I know I’ll be lost in the shuffle if I go out of sight for too long

Yes, I am using my power to get more power
I likely won’t ever have enough
I have a never-ending hole to fill

How much influence and money, how many hotties can I accumulate?

I need to FEEL better and MORE power is the only reliable way I’ve found to do this.

Even though we ALL have this access, USING it makes me feel special and THAT is what I want to amplify

I may want to inspire you a bit too, because that still leaves me as top dog

So get on this train, recognize me

Just ignore the man behind the curtain
Managing his appearance
Stressing over his dry flaky skin
Stressing over his outfit
Controlling every song of his life soundtrack

Because that tenderness is not available to you, it basically doesnt exist in this reality I’ve created

And therefore I don’t actually exist
I am nobody but an image
I am an empty idol
A false promise
A gesture of whimsy
A barren fruit

Almost human but not quite

At least there’s no danger should I burst into flames
As my stream of tears is always available to me, when necessary
