Mental Gymnastics

Philosophy is just mental gymnastics.
There’s a discussion in our group today about the “left” versus the “right”.
Truly, it is a false dichotomy, only there to create division.
They are two wings of the same bird.
As far as the masculine avoidance pattern, the left tends toward wimpy men in freeze or flight patterns – or fathers who are not present at all.
The right side has overbearing tyrannical fathers who resort to “fight” – this represents avoidance of tenderness and emotional presence.
This is also a discussion for understanding punishment vs consequences.
Of course, people need boundaries (consequences) to guide them into integrity. Avoiding consequences completely doesn’t work. And yet, punishment and humiliation only create deeper issues which then put a greater strain on society.
The resolution is not in fixating on an idealogy. Doing so makes it “easy” for the mind because then authentic vulnerable spontaneity can be avoided. The true resolution is uprooting the need for a fixation on philosophy.
Give yourself to God – only then is ANY issue truly being approached with integrity.
